Marine Spirits and the Underworld

Introduction

If you visit African communities and churches, marine spirits and the underworld are a subject of much fear, talk and debate. Yet there are many who doubt the existence of such things, and wonder whether the bible supports their existence. Are they just Satan’s angels, pretending to be marine spirits from the underworld, leading people into baseless fear and deception?

I myself have seen mermaid spirits with my own physical eyes. I have been transported into the underworld in visions, and encountered spirits that desired to recruit me into serving them. I share some of these testimonies in detail, in my other teachings. I also personally know several prophets, who have told me plainly about how they were transported into the underworld, recruited by marine spirits, and given commissions to preach from the bible, prophesy, heal and cast out demons. They came back with power, and they see nothing wrong with this, since they were not told to do anything ‘evil.’ Indeed there are many churches operating today, founded in this way.

This teaching aims to give a bible based understanding on the existence of marine spirits, how they operate, and why we should not accept their ministration in the church, or receive their commissions.

Part 1 – The Three Realms

There are three realms of Existence that God created, in which intelligent life exists.

1. The Heavens

2. The Earth

3. The Underworld

Ultimately, all these three realms will be brought to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, and will be brought into submission to Christ.

Philippians 2:9-10 (NIV)

9. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth

Revelation 5:3 (NIV)

3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it.

When the scriptures refers to the world under the earth, that world is what we call the underworld. Because it’s under our world.

The Sea

These three realms, heaven, earth and underworld are actually divided by boundaries of water which are called the seas.

Genesis 1:6-8 (NIV)

6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning —the second day.

Because heaven and earth have a boundary of water, imagine this:

An angel is standing in heaven. Now you are ascending from earth into heaven. When that angel sees you, he will see you rising into heaven from the waters. Because there are waters above the firmament of the sky, which separate the dimension of earth from the dimension of heaven.

In the same way, the underworld, and the earth are separated by water. So to access the underworld you go through the water, or the sea.

Deuteronomy 5:8 (ESV)

8 “‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

So, from the scriptures above, you can see that God was showing that people can make idols of heavenly beings and worship them, and they can also make idols of underworld beings from the water, and worship beings. These underworld beings that access our world through the waters, are what we term marine spirits.

So when Daniel is saw four Beasts rising from the Sea, they are rising from the underworld.

Daniel 7:2-3 (NIV)

2 Daniel said: “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea. 3 Four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.

These waters of the sea, are also referred to as The Deep

Psalms 77:16 (ESV)

16 When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.

The Under World

There are two main places that the bible speaks of in the underworld: Sheol and The Abyss (Bottomless Pit). There are spirits that are held in those two places.

Proverbs 15:24 (ESV)

24 The path of life leads upward for the prudent, that he may turn away from Sheol beneath.

Ezekiel 26:19-20 (ESV)

19 “For thus says the Lord God: When I make you a city laid waste, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep over you, and the great waters cover you, 20 then I will make you go down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you to dwell in the world below, among ruins from of old,

Part 2 -Why We Should Not Get Commissioned From The Underworld

1. JESUS IS IN HEAVEN

When Jesus died, he descended to the world below. Afterwards he then ascended to heaven. After he ascended, he then gave gifts to human beings.

Ephesians 4:8-9 (WEB)

8 Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to people.”

9 Now this, “He ascended”, what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

So Jesus does not operate from the underworld, he operates from heaven.  Any Jesus operating from the underworld is a false Jesus.

2. Our Hope is In Heaven not in the Underworld.

Colossians 1:5 (WEB) because of the hope which is laid up for you in the heavens, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the Good News

3. We must focus on things that come from Above not from Below

Colossians 3:1 (WEB)

If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God.

Part 3 -Adam and The Serpent

The mistake that Adam and Eve made was to take their instructions from the serpent.

God had given Adam authority over all the animals. So The serpent was created to obey Adam, not for Adam to obey it. It was Adam who names the serpent not the serpent that names him.

The serpent would receive knowledge through Adam not for Adam to receive knowledge through the serpent.

You see now.

The bible says Heaven is higher than earth. This is because of the Revelation of God. In heaven, you see God face to face, On earth you see him in visions and dreams 

So the light and revelation of God and truth shines brightest in heaven than on earth. Hence earth receives its instructions from heaven. God sends Angels with his word on earth, not the other way round. When Angels came down to earth, and began to act like human beings, they crossed their boundaries, and were chained. In the same way.

Earth is higher than the underworld.  Which means the revelation and light of Christ shines brighter on earth than in the underworld. There is darkness in the underworld. So for humans to go down and seek wisdom and revelation from the underworld, is like Adam receiving revelation from the serpent.

It leads to death.
